Heute wurde in Hollywood endlich das Geheimnis gelüftet, welche Filme sich am 9. Februar Hoffnungen auf einen Oscar machen dürfen.
Die Bekanntgabe der Nominierungen für alle 24 Oscar®-Kategorien erfolgte heute, Montag, den 13. Januar, in einer zweiteiligen Live-Präsentation. Beginn war um 14:18 Uhr MEZ.
Schauspieler und Produzent John Cho und Schauspielerin/ Autorin & Produzentin Issa Rae moderierten die zweiteilige Live-Präsentation via globalem Live-Stream auf Oscar.com, Oscars.org, den digitalen Plattformen der Academy (Twitter, YouTube, Facebook), einem Satelliten-Feed sowie auf diversen lokalen Sendern.

Woher stammt eigentlich der Name „Oscar“?
Ursprünglich hieß der Preis „Academy Award of Merit“, seit 1931 nannte man den Goldjungen dann immer häufiger „Oscar“. Angeblich ist er nach dem Onkel der Academy-Bibliothekarin Margaret Herrick (†73) benannt worden, die beim Anblick der Statuette gesagt haben soll: „Hey, der sieht ja aus wie mein Onkel Oscar!“ 1939 wurde aus dem Spitznamen dann die offizielle Bezeichnung des Goldmännchens.
